Surely, being one of the most expensive players, Neymar is allowed to do whatever he likes right? Including getting Champions League trophy tattoos maybe?
Neymar took time out of his preparations to face Real Madrid on Wednesday evening as the Brazilian star got some fresh tattoos. The world-record £198 million player is looking to bring Champions League glory to his current side Paris Saint-Germain this season and his latest tattoo paid homage to his 2015 European success with former employers Barcelona. Ahead of the last-16 first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, the Brazilian opted to get a constant reminder of what he wants to lift more than anything this season.
He scored the Catalan side's third goal in that Champions League final against Juventus after earlier goals from Ivan Rakitic and Luis Suarez cancelled out Alvaro Morata's strike. Tattoo artist Adao Rosa posted the results of Neymar's latest ink on Instagram as the Brazilian star will hope it is the start of many Champions League trophy tattoos.
Along with the trophy design, Neymar opted to add three swallows behind his left ear with the birds said to signify 'honor, respect, courage, freedom, dignity and trust'.
The tough match
In the stand-out tie of the knockout stages, Madrid face a rampant PSG side that set multiple records as they blitzed the group stages. Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani scored a glut of goals and will fancy their chances against a Madrid side that has faltered badly this season - the Champions League is the Spanish club's only remaining hope for silverware.
Madrid finished runners-up in their group behind Premier League side Tottenham after the north London club blew Zinedine Zidane's side away at Wembley.
A repeat performance over two legs against the star-studded quality of PSG and Madrid's woes will only deepen further – and Neymar will be edging closer to his next tattoo.
