Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has told his players they must “grow up” and be able to cope up with expectations.
Following United shock exit in the Champions League in hands of Spanish side Sevilla, Mourinho has slammed his stars. The Special One only pointed out to two stars, Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku claiming they’re the only players who are performing for him.
“They have to learn how to cope with that level of expectation and that level of pressure and they have to survive and when they survive they become stronger," Mourinho said. You know, easy life, and the fans not upset and no critics, that's not good. That's not good because if you want to make a real top team with the top mentality they need to grow up," said Mourinho.
“You cannot expect me to say ‘this and that player, they have to do better’. I prefer to say that Matic and Lukaku are performing at a high level until the last match, he added.
Mou stressed that his side is in a restructuring process, explaining that defeats such as that to Sevilla will teach his side how to deal with the burden of being a United player.
